The Education Ministry in Sri Lanka has earmarked a plan to develop over 1,000 schools in urban, rural, and remote areas throughout the country with all resources.
Among over 9700 schools in the country over 340 national schools are administered by the line ministry of education and all others come under the purview of Provincial administrations.
Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena has said that these selected schools will be provided with all required resources in order to over come the high demand for national and prestigious Schools.
The Ministry expects to provide these selected schools with laboratory equipment, Computer Centres, Language Skills Development Centres, Sports equipment and other human and physical resources needed to improve overall quality of education.
