130 Indonesian Police Officers have Arrived in Darfur

A contingent of 130 officers from the Indonesian Formed Police Unit (FPU), have arrived in El Fasher, north of Darfur region in western Sudan at the start of a one-year duty with the African Union - United Nations Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID).
Receiving the unit UNAMID Deputy Police Commissioner for Operations, Adeyemi Ogunjemilusi, said the unit arrived at a crucial time particularly to provide security to the Internally Displaced Persons in the region.
The Head of the contingent, Lt. Johny Assadoma, expressed readiness to begin the assignment with UNAMID and called for more international support to help the people of Darfur.
The Indonesian FPU is expected to be based in El Fasher and will be followed by the Bangladeshi Unit.
