OFT Refers ‘video On-demand’ Joint Venture Between BBC Worldwide, ITV And Channel Four

The OFT has today referred the proposed video on demand (VOD) joint venture between BBC Worldwide Limited (BBCW), ITV plc (ITV) and Channel 4 Television Corporation (Channel 4) - also known as Project ‘Kangaroo’ - to the Competition Commission (CC) for further inquiry. The CC now has 24 weeks to consider the issues, and collect better evidence on the key issues than is currently available. Read more

President Kufuor’s Special Award to Himself Sparks Controversy in Ghana

The proposed special award for President John Agyekum Kufuor of Ghana has sparked controversy among a section of the Ghanaian public. The award, dubbed, “Grand Order of the Star and Eagle of Ghana,” will be the highest award to be bestowed on President Kufuor, who created it as a means of rewarding serving heads of state, and he would be the first to receive that honor.
