50th Emir of Katsina 56-year Old Alhaji Abulmumini Kabir Usman Officially Ascended the Throne on Saturday

The 50th emir of Katsina, home state of President Umaru Yar’Adua, 56-year old Alhaji Abulmumini Kabir Usman, eldest son of late Alhaji Muhammadu Kabir Usman, officially ascended the throne, Saturday.
Alhaji Kabir Usman succeeds his late father, Alhaji Muhammadu Kabir Usman, who died on March 8, 2008, after a brief illness.
The new Emir is a graduate of Sociology from Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto, North West Nigeria. He started school at the age of seven at Kayalawa primary school in Katsina.
The coronation ceremony was attended by millions of people, including the governors of Maradi and Zindar of Niger Republic. Over 50 Nigerian traditional rulers attended, including emirs of Kano, Gwandu, Kebbi, Zaria, Daura, Etsu Nupe, Oba of Lagos, and the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar.
President Umaru Yar’Adua, represented by Speaker, House of Representatives, Honourable Dimeji Bankole expressed confidence in the emir, saying he was sure the traditional ruler would use his revered throne to advance peace, growth and development in the state and country.
