Over 50 academicians, civil society leaders, media personnel and think tank members from about 20 African countries will meet in Arusha, Tanzania under the 7th African Resource Bank meeting to brainstorm on Governance and Prosperity in Africa on 11-14 November.
The Inter Regional Economic Network (IREN), a leading African think tank, is organizing this seventh African Resource Bank (ARB) meeting.
IREN promotes ideas and strategies geared towards causing prosperity in the continent.
The theme of the event is “Probing governance and Prosperity in Africa”
The participants will discuss among other topics how political leadership in Africa has affected governance and prosperity, what role the foreign countries have played in the governance and prosperity dilemma facing Africa, and whether Africans are doing enough to rebuild their own governance and prosperity structure.
The high profile event to be addressed by leading scholars will also look at what standards of measurement Africa should adopt in its quest for better governance and prosperity, the impact of the current global economic slowdown on Africa’s governance system, identifying guidelines for good governance and lessons learned from the Global financial crisis for Africa.
Since 2000, IREN has hosted over 270 personalities in an annual event code named Africa Resource Bank where participants deposit and draw ideas, under various themes including turning African people into a resource, WTO decisions and impact on Africa among others.
The event is partly supported by a German organization FNST Tanzania .
