Air Arabia Sees Demand Soar Between India And Sharjah

Air Arabia, India’s first foreign low-cost carrier (LCC) and the first and largest low-cost carrier in the Middle East and North Africa has announced that its passenger average load factor - passengers carried as a proportion of available seats – for the first quarter of 2008 stood at 94% across its destinations network in India.

The airline served 246,296 passengers on the Sharjah – India routes for the first quarter of 2008, an increase of 43% per cent compared to 172,246 passengers during the same period in 2007.

Air Arabia, who currently provides direct services to Ahmedabad, Chennai, Jaipur, Kochi, Mumbai, Nagpur, Coimbatore, Thiruvanathapuram, Bangalore, Kozhikode and Delhi represents the highest network on any Middle East airline to serve India and connects over 39 destinations internationally.

On-time performance achieved was in excess of 95% across the company network in India. Another key factor for the airline’s success in India is the great connectivity it offers to the Middle East, even from non metro cities. The airline has made efforts to operate to smaller, less congested airports closer to the customer base. This move has not only benefited passengers, many of whom have access to international low cost travel for the first time but has also helped contribute to the development of the region.
