Amtrak Train Collides With a Freight Train in Chicago

An Amtrak train has collided with a freight train in the South Side of Chicago. The Amtrak’s passenger cars have remained upright and there are no reports of explosions or fire. Officials say there are about five serious injuries amongst the crew and no serious injuries so far with the 100 to 150 passengers. Fifteen ambulances were on their way to the scene.
The engine unit of the Amtrak train is resting on top of the rear of the freight train. The Amtrak involved is a short train with three double-decker passenger cars. Firefighters carried several children from the accident. “The passenger cars look to be in great shape, great shape,” Langford, spokesman for the fire department said.
