At Least 14 Killed As the Military Joint Task Force Engages Suspected Islamists
No fewer than 14 people were killed in Maiduguri, capital of embattled Borno State in north-east Nigeria, on New Year’s Day when the military Joint Task Force (JTF) engaged suspected Islamists.
One of the victims was a soldier with the JTF, the spokesman of the JTF, Lt.-Col. Sagir Musa, confirmed.
“At about 1600 hours today (Tuesday), troops of the Joint Task Force Operation Restore Order had an encounter with Boko Haram terrorists at Bulabulin and Bayan Quarters of Maiduguri.
“During the encounter, the JTF lost one soldier and two were wounded. Thirteen Boko Haram terrorists lost their lives,” he said.
