The Australian Trade Commission – Austrade – has expanded its presence in India to eleven offices. Five new offices, located in Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Cochin, Jaipur and Pune opened in 2010, augmenting the six existing Austrade offices in Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Mumbai.
There has been a significant growth in trade and investment between Australia and India in recent years, which has resulted in India becoming Australia’s fastest growing major two-way trading partner.
Two-way trade between the two countries was valued at A$21.7 billion in 2008-09.
To assist Australian exporters to India, and to help attract productive foreign direct investment from India to Australia, Austrade now has the largest number of representative offices in India of any trade development organization.
