The film is based on Rabindranath Tagore’s classic ‘Char Adhyay’ (Four Chapters).

The actors of the film Paoli Dam, Vikram Chatterjee and Indraneil Sengupta shared their experiences of acting in their maiden Tagore film at the 43rd International Film Festival of India in Goa. They said it’s a different kind of film and portraying the characters were really challenging. Paoli revealed that the director of the film Bappaditya Bandopadhyay has meticulously designed the costumes of the characters keeping in mind the period of the film.

The story captures the ideas of the Bengali Renaissance of the 1930s and ‘40s. A group of young intellectuals and revolutionaries, led by the brilliant Indranath, is fighting for independence from the colonial system. Ela, the group’s emancipated muse and teacher, is troubled by her romantic love for the poet Atin, who is drawn into the movement for his love for her. Atin doubts the cruelty of revolutionary acts sanctioned by Indranath’s ideals. This film has inter-woven politics and love story in a superb manner.
