Bomb Shatters Railway Bridge in Zimbabwe, No Reports of Injuries
August 22, 2008
A bomb exploded at a railway bridge linking the Zimbabwean capital, Harare and the second largest city of Bulawayo, but no one was injured, police said Friday.
Chief police spokesman Wayne Bvudzijena said in a statement that the bomb attack occurred Thursday night and targeted the Hunyani rail and road bridges along the Harare-Bulawayo railway line.
The blast caused minimal damage to the bridge and police were Friday still investigating the motive behind the attack.
The incident comes barely a month after another bomb blast shattered Harare’s central police station at the beginning of August.
No one has claimed the bombing and no one has been arrested yet in the police station blast.
