BBC One’s television news bulletins at 6.00pm and 10.00pm have seen significant growth in their audiences according to consolidated audience figures for January to July 2008. The period, which has seen major news stories such as the credit crunch, the progress of the Olympic torch and the BBC presenting live from Zimbabwe (despite being banned), saw more viewers tune than in the equivalent period in 2007.
