Sure, the commercials and the trailer are pretty funny, but is the actual movie any good? Oh, yes. Kung Fu Panda is the closest that Dreamworks has managed to get to the quality and feel of a Pixar film, and that’s a good thing. Although it’s rated PG like previous offerings from the studio like the Shrek series, here we’re missing the sharp edge and subtle “adult” humor. Read more

It was with some trepidation that I watched Cloverfield, fully expecting the film to be the typical teenage-oriented disaster flick, but I was pleasantly surprised. Not only was Cloverfield an exciting and tense disaster flick but it was also a monster movie, too. Kudos to the production team that created this over-the-top CGI adventure, but also to the director, Matt Reeves, who actually achieved decent performances from his young cast. Read more

As a huge Sex and the City fan, I planned to love the movie no matter what, but it truly delivered, even despite my small fears it’d just be one huge, long promo as it opened with a lot of SATC sass and recap of where we’d left all the ladies. Read more

The story was strangely fascinating for people who follow weird-news sources like Romenesko’s Obscure Store and Reading Room: a woman driving at night had struck a homeless pedestrian with such force that he tumbled headlong over the hood of the car and straight through the windshield so that his body slumped across the dashboard, impaled on the shattered glass underneath it. Amazingly, the woman kept driving. Read more
