The World Famous RAF Aerobatic Team, more commonly known as the Red Arrows, are going to move from RAF Scampton in Lincolnshire to nearby RAF Waddington. The decision to move the Red Arrows comes after completion of a Royal Air Force Study that considered basing options for them. Read more
British Bulldog - Protecting the Protectors

Baroness Ann Taylor announced today that the Army has taken delivery of the 500th upgraded Bulldog infantry troop carrier - large numbers of which are deployed in Iraq where they have been praised by troops. The delivery is part of a program to upgrade 900 of one of the British Army’s workhorse vehicles, the FV430 Mk 2. Read more
Georgia: New Video Ups Ante In Abkhaz Dispute

In the latest in the ongoing feud between Moscow and Tbilisi, the Georgian Interior Ministry has released video footage it claims is evidence that Russia is engaged in more than mere peacekeeping in Georgia’s breakaway region of Abkhazia. Instead, the Interior Ministry believes, Moscow is deploying heavy weaponry in Abkhazia in violation of the 1994 cease-fire agreement under which Russian peacekeepers are stationed in the region. Moldova Approval Not Needed for Transdniester Independence

Good news for Transdniestria: You don’t need Moldova’s prior OK in order to be independent. Other countries or would-be countries who aspire to full statehood also don’t need to ask anyone’s permission first. That is the verdict of a recent conference of international lawyers held in Washington D.C. which analyzed the issue of Kosovo and came to the conclusion that even if Serbia is against independence for Kosovo, it doesn’t matter because no one’s prior permission is required in order for a people to declare its independence. U.K. Government Agrees Fair Deal on Agency Work
