Saving Lives By Tackling Knives - Increased Action in England to Tackle Knife Crime

Legal Protection for Rare British Frog

Legal protection for a rare frog with a distinctive accent was announced today by Minister for Wildlife, Joan Ruddock. From 1 October 2008, the pool frog together with the lesser whirlpool ram’s-horn snail and the Fisher’s estuarine moth will be legally protected through the Habitats Regulations from being killed, taken, injured, disturbed, owned or sold, or having their resting or breeding places destroyed. Five Killed in Mid-air Collision Near Coventry Airport, England

Five people have been killed when two light aircraft collided near to Coventry Airport in Warwickshire, England. One of the aircraft, a Cessna 402 carrying four people, crashed near Brandon Woods whilst the other, a smaller single engine aircraft with only the pilot on board crashed a mile away near to Coombe Abbey, Brinklow. Government Clampdown for Driving Test Impersonators in the U.K.

Impersonators who sit driving tests for others were issued a severe warning this week that their action’s are being monitored and will result in prosecution with tougher sentencing by the courts. Russia Follows Georgia in Signing Peace Plan But Refuses to Withdraw Immediately

Russian president Dmitry Medvedev followed the president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili and signed the ceasefire agreement on Saturday. The peace plan document was originally drafted by Nicolas Sarkozy, the President of France. Medvedev announced having signed the document during a meeting of the Russian Security Council. Read more
