China’s Vice Minister in the Ministry of Supervision of the National Bureau of Corruption Prevention, Qu Wanxiang, and his delegation on Thursday are visiting Botswana on a benchmarking mission.
Welcoming the delegation, acting Minister of Justice Defence and Security, Lesego Motsumi, said the government of Botswana and its people were delighted that the Chinese National Bureau of Corruption Prevention viewed Botswana as a corruption-free country and conducive to business, exchanging information, fighting corruption and establishing areas of cooperation in this regard.
She said the Botswana government had put in place programs and policies to fight and minor corruption in the country.
“I’m happy to learn that you have made great improvements to fight the scourge of corruption in your country,” she said.
On his part, Wanxiang said there was a lot that the Chinese government could learn from Botswana.
“Botswana is one of the least corrupt and transparent countries in Africa. This is the reason why it is one of the most peaceful countries in Africa,” he said.
