Obama, Clinton Debate Power of Words in Texas Debate
February 21, 2008
Democratic Party presidential hopefuls Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama argued over the power of words versus actions during a debate in Texas Thursday night.
Clinton said Obama speaks well, but has not proven himself. She accused him of political plagiarism — using the words of other politicians instead of his own.
Obama countered by touting his legislative accomplishments, and saying that words are important for motivating people.
The two Senators also offered different opinions on how quickly they would meet with the new leader of Cuba.
Clinton said she would wait until there was evidence Cuba was moving toward democracy following the resignation of its long-time leader Fidel Castro this week. Obama expressed a willingness to hold talks more quickly — saying it is important that the next president take a more active role in diplomacy.
Clinton’s campaign has been focusing on the March fourth contests in Texas and Ohio to stay competitive against Obama, who has won 10 straight victories in recent state races and has an edge in the number of delegates needed to win the nomination.
In the Republican field, John McCain denied a “New York Times” report that implied he had a romantic relationship with a female lobbyist Vicki Iseman, and helped push legislation that benefited her clients.
McCain said the article is not true. He and Iseman both have denied a romantic link.

Oh, yea, Hillary carved up a plate of beef for Texans to bite into tonight.
Did Hillary plagiarize the ideas of John Edwards?
http://youtube.com/watch?v=zAYItnI-lPo#
It appears Senator Clinton gave her valedictory speech at the end of the debate tonight. I could sense her hopelessness at getting nominated for the preseidential election. Even though she put up a brave fight, she tacitfully conceeded defeat to Senator Obama.
I still am not convince with Obama. He copies Hillary’s ideas and boast that they both agree on it. We know Clinton has been around Politics longer than him. Even more important is that she once lived in the White House. Just like a child living in their parents home, they see and hear whats goes on. She already knows the job of The Presidency. Thats the advantage she has over Obama. I wish she had said to him I know what the Presidency is all about , the tremendous responsibilities and difficult decision. I’m sorry, its not that Obama is not educated enough, he just lack both domestic and international politics. He needs to learn more. He likes to rumble on about her supporting the war. We all know America had been bomb during her husband presidency and after . After 9ll we all got scared and did not know whom to thrust. Why because if Geroge Bush had listen to Colen Powell and not Rumsfeld, he could have advise Washington better. Bush had bad advisors. He knows it. He can’t be blame for everything. This country is in a lot of mess, we are not regarded as the America Land of the Great. Other countries don’t give us the respect they use to. Why is Obama the Healing Man, and because he is biracial that should make a difference. Right now that “Color Thang ain’t important” to me. It would be nice to fulfill African Americans dreams, but this person has to have the credentials.
The media has do out Mrs Clinton. American should be ashame she once was our First Lady, we have to respect all. I bet if Ms Rice was running she would not have gotten so much Love and glory. Some Black folks call her Uncle Tom and other awful names, and she is by far more experience and educated than Obama. It would have been a different campaign with the Media.
Any way one last sentence. SINCE THE MEDIA HAVE ALREADY DEPICTED BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA PRESIDENT, SADAM HUSSEIN IS LYING IN HIS GRAVE LAUGHING, AND SAYING WHO GOT THE LAST LAUGH, MY NAME WILL LIVE IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA WHITE HOUSE. End of Story.
Clinton ended the Texas debate on a high note. But Obama was the next President of the United States.
Isn’t it just like Americans to want a quick fix to an ailing economy, Iraq no-end, government excess, corporate largesse. Political pundits, endorsements and specious rhetoric, however, is not the best medicine. If America is to prevail, the gridiron of policy must be endorsed fully. Senator Clinton is a brilliant policy leader and fully capable of bipartisan unification. What we need is the opposite of what we desire: the irony is between what we envision in Obama and what is omnipresent in Clinton: that which is steely determination and clear direction only begotten by insight and experience. History speaks less to popular. Obama is what he is: a mediocre liberal, relying on advisors, having been less credible himself on pragmatic economics, healthcare, education, environment and Washington politics.
One of the things that came to mind tonight hearing several of the commentators say that they felt Clinton was basically giving somewhat of a concession speech was that perhaps that’s true but having said that, I think it speaks volumes regarding Clinton’s character and shows what she is made of that is truly lacking in Obama. Yes, she started off this campaign saying that she was, “in it to win it”‘ and she’s fought a long, arduous campaign, however, tonight she showed that what ultimately HAD to be victorious was the Democratic Platform. As such she again left Obama looking like a smug, arrogant bully whose hellbent on personal victory. I applaud her totally. I continue to support her and earnestly pray that she does pull this election out because if she doesn’t I have no doubt that within the first year of an Obama presidency we will all be asking ourselves…..What the devil did anyone see in this man. I know this is one of those times when there would be many of us that would have no difficultly in saying we told you so. YES, actions do speak volumes over words. Words formed around lies is the reason this nation is facing the problems its facing today. Barack would be a great president in a country where everyone agrees on every issue but this nation is extremely diverse and the reality is that it will in many ways continue to be. All I forsee him doing is wasting so much time trying to get everyone to agree on any issue that ultimately nothing gets accomplished. The tough job of a president requires that someone ultimately be able to say - Okay, we’ve discussed this long enough and this is the direction we’re gonna go. He reminds me of one of my favorite jokes about my own church…..Do you know how many Methodist it takes to screw in a light bulb? The answer is only one but first we have to have a committee to make sure the change doesn’t offend anyone. Reality Barack - you can please some of the people some of the time and on those times that you cant, the president has to be willing to take the ball knowing that the outcome will be a reflection of their judgement. Barack just seems to want such a consensus on issues that if it fails it will be everyone else’s fault rather than his own. That’s not strength in the face of adversity.
I saw the debate last night, and i thought that was really good, and i must admit im in favour of this kind of politics rather than all that misused money. What i thought was totaly wrong was that Obama got alot more speaking time than Clinton. NObody stopped him, he was allowed to ramble on, i think that Obama got 15 minuters more talking time than Clinton. I must admit when i see CNN involved it does smell of a shady deal.
When Obama started to talk on NH he got 8 minutes to Clinton’s 6 and in the middle of her sentance she was cut off by CNN. She came back again to be allowed to finnish what she was trying to say and Obama was then allowed another 9 minutes to ramble on again, thats not a fair disscussion.
What would be good is that when you hold a shoot out, then each politicion should only be allowed to talk for so long, once they go over that then their microphone should be cut, until its there turn to speak again.
The question that I would like to pose is this… why do we as Americans, a nation of millions of citizens, see nothing wrong with the fact that we have had a father and son as presidents, and potentially a husband and wife as presidents? There are scores of extensively qualified politicians in this country. Why do we perceive this as a normal condition? The truth is, It is dynastic. What we need more that a new face in the White House is a new attitude about the political process. How can we ever expect to effectively address our issues and move forward as a nation when we remain complacent with business as usual by the same old faces who have consistently benefited no one but themselves? I really don’t think that there was a single elected president who was not aware of the awesome responsibilities of the office of the president on “Day One”. Please wake up America and demand change!
Am I the only one who see that this Obama Hussein is only using other peoples words.
He is using Kennedy’s, Martin Luther King, Chavez and even repeats what Hillary says over and over again. How is this man going to run this country, I ask?
What a joke.
Nikita
If you think Senator Clinton has a bipartisan bone in her body you are drinking koolaid. If its bipartisanship that impreses you then you have only one choice. Senator McCain who has reached accross the aisle more than any. Neither Obama or Clinton are brilliant on policy. Both of them acted as if changing from Fidel Castro to his brother Raul was some sort of regime change in Cuba. Laughable. The fact remains that neither Clinton nor Obama has any wonderful legislative track record to impress. Just Words.
Well it seems that Obama did really well last night….Poor ole Clinton…even the KKK dont want her to be president and they are supporting Obama as well….This is for Ms. Donna H…Yeah experience doesnt account for much these days…Bush had more experience than both clintons and see where he got us and Reagan had no experience( he was a freaking actor) and see where he got us( do your research)…so experience is not everything..becuz he still needs a cabinet, vice P and others things so he would be a way better pic than saggy ole clinton…who like he says “WENT BEHIND HER OWN PARTY’S BACK” just to pass a health insurance plan that…HMMMM….FAILED…last time i checked…and every one knws that shes sneaky…=)…OBAMA 08..TIME FOR A CHANGE.
The truth of the matter is, Hillary has unabashedly stolen and used Barack Obama’s campaign slogan, “Yes we can!” and parrots it in her speeches; and lately in Waco.
Barack Obama invented the campaign slogan “Yes we can” during his run for the “US Senate” years ago and still uses the same catchphrase in this Presidential Election.
This fact was observed by Chris Matthews, the host of “Hardball” on MSNBC, when he heard Hillary plagiarize Obama’s slogan. Chris was dumbfounded and in disgust and total unbelief, remarked, “Hillary just used Obama’s slogan!”

Shame on you Obama voters.
Never have I seen so much garbage in champagne before. I thought Obama was going to unite the American people, how is possible with so much hatred among you people?
Do any of you know where the slogan “we want change” come from? It was Hugo shavez slogan in 1974 did you know that?
Hillary-all the way.
Hillary’s own campaign managers are now saying she can’t manage the money and is living lavishly at the expense of the American taxpayers. They also say, Hillary doesn’t exercise sound judgment and lacks the decision making ability.
If Hillary can’t manage her own campaign and is recklessly squandering donations, what assurances do people have that she’ll competently run the business for America?
Hillary stole Sen. Barack Obama’s campaign slogan, “Yes we can,” and had the gall to falsely accuse him of plagiarizing his own friend and Co-Chair, Gov. Deval Patrick.
This xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx did it on CNN, of all the places, broadcasting her lies to the whole world to garner support for her political ambitions.
Don’t be fooled by this cunning woman who once again during the CNN debate, used her sob stories as she successfully did in New Hampshire to hustle some votes.
Every time Hillary is on the loosing end, she counteracts Sen. Obama’s triumph with a tearjerker, and more often with a sickening personal attack on his impeccable character.
One could easily tell by Hillary’s body language and facial expressions how disingenuous she was when she made her doleful homily at the end of the debate to con the voters – one more time!
How could she have been truly sincere, when throughout the debate she repeatedly ridiculed Obama and made condescending attacks on his legislative experience?
Shame on Hillary Clinton and her entire family for blatantly lying about Sen. Barack Obama’s character and for stealing his catchphrase, “Yes we can!”
READ WHAT HER OWN MANAGERS ARE REPORTING REGARDING HER INCOMPETENCE IN MANAGING MONEY AND HER LACK OF SOUND JUDGMENT. STOP GIVING HER ANYMORE MONEY!

Clinton spending worries supporters
Can struggles be traced to lavish spending on accommodations, advisers?
