Daniel Kablan Duncan Chosen As New Prime Minister for the Ivory Coast
Ivory Coast President Alassane Ouattara has announced the appointment of Daniel Kablan Duncan as the country’s new Prime Minister.
Kablan replaces Jeannot Kouadio Ahoussou Kouadio as head of government and will name his cabinet in the coming days.
In reaction to his appointment, the new prime minister said he was proud to be designated the position and qould work toward the betterment of life for all Ivorians.
Mr Kablan said he was aware of President Ouattara’s priority for the rehabilitation of the country’s youth and the recovery of the faltering economy from 8 percent to a double-digit growth rate by 2014.
“The poverty rate which stands at 50 percent should also increase by 25 percent” Kablan observed adding that security also remains a burning issue which his cabinet would give due attention.
