A delegation of the National Council for Democracy and Development (CNDD), the ruling military council in Guinea, is expected on Tuesday to meet with the facilitator in the Guinean crisis, Mr. Blaise Compaoré, in the Burkinabe capital Ouagadougou.
This mission is part of the mediation which started this week with the visit of the junta’s representatives in Ouagadougou.
The delegation of the Guinean Lifeblood composed of political parties, unions and the civil society took advantage of the visit to submit a memorandum to President Blaise Compaoré as regards solutions on how to get out of the crisis.
In their proposals, the Guinean Lifeblood requested that the junta’s chief step down as well as the setting up of a transition body, with only civilians as its members.
And yet, the facilitator was able to talk the Guinean opposition into resuming the dialogue with the junta. This was intended to facilitate the mediation though it proves to be a hard task.
It would be recalled that Guineans are still in a state of shock following the repression on 28 September which resulted with the killing of over 150 people, according to the UN.
The composition of the junta’s delegation which is expected to travel to Ouagadougou has not yet been made public whereas it is known that Dadis, the junta’s chief, will not make the trip.
Even General Sékouba Konaté, the Defence Minister and second CNDD Vice-president, is not expected to be in the list of the missionaries, according to a source close the junta.
Among the most cited names there are : the Minister and Permanent Secretary of the CNDD, Commander Moussa Kéita, the Minister of Communication at the Presidency of the Republic, Idrissa Chérif, and the Minister of Telecommunications, Commander Mathurin Bangoura.
