Delta Airlines, one of America’s leading carriers, will resume direct flight and services to Liberia for the first time in 20 years on Sunday.
Presidential Press Secretary Cyrus Badio confirmed to APA Tuesday that Delta Airlines is expected to fly between Jacksonville International Airport in the United States and Roberts International Airport about 45 kilometers from the Liberian capital Monrovia.
Mr. Badio said Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf will cut the ribbon on arrival of the first direct flight between the United States and Liberia.
The presidential mansion has meanwhile said President Johnson Sirleaf views the resumption of direct flights to Liberia by Delta Airlines as another milestone in the progress of the country and the government.
“The recommencement of Delta Airlines operation in Liberia after a terrible conflict means that the thread connecting Liberia with its oldest partner, USA, has been repaired,” President Sirleaf said, adding, “Liberians have more freedom to travel to the US and our friends have more freedom to come here”.

I am praising the Lord God for allowing this direct access between the U.S. and Liberia. I have been so concerned that Liberia have an open path to restoration, and this is a huge step toward fulfilling that goal.
