donald-trumpDonald J. Trump has reinforced The Trump Organization’s commitment to Scotland by discussing job creation and tourism in a lively visit with Scotland’s Minister for Enterprise, Jim Mather, who is in New York City as part of the annual Scotland Week celebration.

Scotland Week 2009 (April 4-11) celebrates Scotland’s rich cultural and business ties with the United States and Canada. This year, Scotland is celebrating Homecoming, and Ministers are inviting people with Scottish ancestry, as well as those who simply love Scotland, to “Come Home” and join them in an inspirational celebration of culture, heritage and the many great contributions Scotland has given the world.

“As a true supporter of Scotland, Donald Trump is following through on his promise to create jobs, boost the local economy in Northeast Scotland and attract more tourists to Scotland,” said Minister Mather. “The Trump Organization is showing tremendous support for our nation by realizing our potential for development, and utilizing talent and local resources to support activities.”

Praising The Trump Organization’s ongoing support of Scotland, Minister Mather thanked Donald Trump for exciting the Scottish economy and boosting tourism. Around 2,000 full time jobs are due to be created in the long term at The Trump Organizations’ Menie Estate development. Donald Trump also discussed his plans to visit Scotland during Homecoming 2009, a series of events celebrating Scotland’s rich culture.

“We are thrilled to show our continued support during Scotland Week and I am excited about planning my visit to Scotland during Homecoming 2009,” said Donald Trump. “In addition to continued developments underway at Trump International Golf Links in Scotland, I’m happy to reinforce my commitment to the great nation of my ancestors by supporting job creation and tourism.”

Donald J. Trump’s passion for Scotland stems from his pride in his Scottish roots. His mother, Mary MacLeod, grew up on the Island of Lewis in Stornoway where her first language was Gaelic, before moving to New York City at age 20. His decision to build Trump International Golf Links, Menie Estate, Scotland is the fulfillment of a long-held dream to give back to his mother’s homeland.

“We were very excited to meet with Minister Mather today and look forward to the projects we’ll be undertaking in Scotland over the next year,” said George Sorial of The Trump Organization. “The Trump Organization will be making many trips back to Scotland during Homecoming and we encourage people across North America to visit this beautiful and welcoming country in the years to come.”
