Jean Claude Augustave, Communications Officer of the DCP indicated on Friday in Port Louis that the DCP will allocate sums varying from $5000 to $15 000 to non-governmental organizations, including the Chagos Refugee Group, SOS Poverty and Zero Tolerance Against Domestic Violence.

Augustave added that the DCP is setting up a non-state actors capacity building program (NSACBP) and that organizations which will be included in the program will receive non only financial support, but will also benefit from a training program.

Courses will include the management of their financial resources, the follow-up of their programs and the methodology on how to write reports, Augustave added.

And Augustave indicated that the DCP has also decided to select a series of trainers to help NGOs set up their projects. He added that it is primordial for NGOs to improve their methods and techniques of functioning and the evaluation of their projects.

Augustave said that at the end of the DCP program in March 2010, there will be a meeting to evaluate the progress that has been achieved. An international consultant from the European Union will be present to determine if a DCP-2 will be necessary.
