The Egyptian ministry of health confirmed on Wednesday the 50th case of human bird flu since the outbreak of the disease in the country in early 2006.
The ministry said in a statement that Mahmoud Ibraheem Ramadan, a two-year-old child from El-Haytah village in el-Hosseyniyah district, about 120 kilos east of Cairo, is the latest victim of the flu.
Ramadan was admitted on Monday to hospital suffering from bird flu symptoms, including high temperature and respiratory problems.
He was moved on Tuesday to a new hospital to receive specialist medical treatment.
