Electoral Observation Mission in Honduras Makes Post Election Visit

Flag of HondurasFollowing the Electoral Observation Mission (EOM) deployed in Honduras by the Organization of American States (OAS) in November, 2012, to observe the Primary Elections, the Chief of Mission, Enrique Correa RĂ­os, will arrive in the country to formally deliver the Verbal Report presented to the Permanent Council of the OAS.

In order to cooperate with the Honduran authorities to strengthen their electoral system, and as established in the observation procedures agreement signed between the OAS General Secretariat and the Supreme Electoral Tribunal of Honduras, Correa will present the main findings and recommendations to the proper authorities, and will offer support to accompany the implementation of some of the observations ahead of the general election this year.

In this post-election visit, the first of its kind, the head of the EOM/OAS will meet with various electoral, government and political authorities, as well as representatives of the international community.
