Ethiopia has inaugurated a hydro electric project worth over $350 million that will generate 300 MW. Tekeze Hydro eclectic generation station was launched in the presence of Ethiopian PM Meles Zenawi.
It is part of the three hydro electric projects that Ethiopia will launch this year to enhance the country’s energy demand, which is increasing by over 20% annually.
Gilegel Ghibe II and Tana Beles power generation stations are the other two projects expected to generate over 600 MW together in the coming three months.
Ethiopian PM Meles Zenawi said that the project, fully funded by Ethiopian government, will help the country fulfill its energy demand.
Tekeze hydro electric project is located in the northern part of Ethiopia.
