Ethiopia’s capital city, Addis Ababa, is gearing up to host the 10th Innovation Africa Digital Summit (March 27-29 2012) for which the Ethiopian Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MoCTI) partnered with Extensia Limited, a leading Australian supplier of software solutions and technologies for the health care sector, to bring the event to the country.
The summit will bring together up to 350 leaders covering the African Information Communication Technology (ICT) industry including ministers, regulators, service providers and leading international solution providers.
Peter Gatkuoth Gey, Communication and Information Technology State Minister, said hosting such an event, which will attract international ITC investors, is important to maximize the flow of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) into the country.
“This summit is expected to play its own role in showing the government’s commitment and interest to work with the international technology innovators which will accelerate the ICT development initiatives being undertaken nationally, and thereby fulfilling the expected result to be realized within the coming few years,” he added.
For his part, Extensia CEO Tariq H Malik, expressed excitement “to bring our 10th annual summit to Ethiopia, and look forward to further connecting Ethiopia’s ICT ecosystem with that of Africa and the rest of the world”.
He acknowledged that Ethiopia has made great headway in its development communications, bridging the digital divide and reaching out to the rural areas.
MoCTI and Extensia also intend to promote the Addis Ababa ICT Park to the global technology companies at the summit.
