July 28, 2010 – Five deputy U.S. marshals wounded in the line of duty received U.S. Marshals Service Purple Heart awards from John Clark, director of the U.S. Marshals Service, at a ceremony here today. “Deputy marshals today, more than ever, are encountering dangerous and life-threatening situations,” said Clark. These men “stared danger in the face and did what is contrary to most ways of thinking. They subdued a violent criminal or stopped violent behavior while being wounded in the process.”
