France Proposes Agreement to Hire Egyptian Workers
April 15, 2008
French Immigration Minister Press Aortvuo held talks on Monday with Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit on a proposed agreement to export Egyptian workers to France.
Aortvuo said the agreement aims at bringing Egyptian workers to France on similar lines of the agreement between Egypt and Italy.
The proposed agreement would open the way for large numbers of Egyptian workers to take up jobs in professions where they are needed by the French market.
He said the number of Egyptians who work in France now stands at about 70,000.
He said the agreement would also increase the number of Egyptian students studying in France.
After the meeting, Gheit said that he had called upon France to speed up the opening of training centres in Egypt to train Egyptian workers in the occupations that the French require.
Aortvuo promised that he would include training in the proposed agreement.
