Gabon Expresses Determination to Better Manage Its Raw Materials
The Gabonese government has reaffirmed its determination to improve the management of its raw materials following the decision of the Board of the Initiative for Transparency in Extractive Industries (ITIE) to exclude the Central-African country from its membership.
“Appropriate measures will be taken once we have known all the reasons behind Gabon’s exclusion,” a communiqué published Friday in Libreville by the Gabonese minister of Oil, Energy and Water Resources indicated, while deploring the decision of the ITIE Board which it notified Gabon last Tuesday.
The communiqué stressed Gabon’s resolute determination “to work toward continuously ensuring good governance in the management of its raw materials while remaining ready to collaborate with any partner willing to help it in that regard.”
Gabon’s soil is abundantly rich with raw materials and key resources such as oil, gold, manganese, niobium etc.
