Ghanaian President John Evans Atta Mills has inaugurated a $40 million cocoa processing plant at Mpitsin in the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolis in the Western Region.
The cocoa processing factory processes 35, 000 tons of raw cocoa into liquor and cocoa butter for export and employs 120 Ghanaians.
Speaking at the function, President Mills said his administration was poised to make sure that Ghana added value to her natural resources to generate more revenue and create employment opportunities for the youth in the country.
According to President Mills, Ghana would mobilize her available resources to create a strong economy based on industrialization.
Ghana is currently the second largest producer of cocoa in the world, after Cote d’lvoire, and processes about 40% of its raw cocoa beans.
