Ghana’s parliament has approved three Supreme Court judges that President John Evans Atta Mills nominated to the country’s bench.
The judges, vetted by Parliament two weeks ago, were subsequently approved through a unanimous decision. They are justices Vida Akoto Bamfo, Nasiru Sulemana Badebge and Benjamin Teiko Aryetey who were formerly appeal court judges.
Their appointments became necessary following the demise of one judge and two resignations from the courts.
APA learned that the minority bench in Parliament criticized the government for appointing the three judges in a bid to manipulate the judicial system at the country’s highest court.
