Goats to be Married on February 29th
February 18, 2008
Yes, the headline is correct. It seems that Marie and Spike, two resident goats at the Children’s school’s barnyard, will tie the knot in a special “leap year” ceremony as the culmination of Children’s University Fairy Tale Wedding Planners, Inc., an interdisciplinary 12-week elective project of the sort that keeps this little school on the cutting edge of education.
Providing hands-on experience in planning and executing a complex event, this elective breaks event planning into teachable units to coincide with educational principles taught in core curriculum courses. From engagement festivities to ceremony and reception, including designing, purchasing materials and making costumes for all 15 members of the “wedding party”- then training the animals to wear them - the CU Fairytale Wedding packs great fun and tremendous educational opportunities into the orchestration of this very special event.
“We’ve done this in the past with other animals and have been amazed with what these kids come up with and all the educational opportunities this great fun event provides,” says Children’s University Founder and CEO Lynn Kenner.
