Government of Sri Lanka to Introduce National Policy for Private Sector Pay

The Government of Sri Lanka has taken an initiative to formulate a national policy on private sector employees following the National Salary Policy introduced for the public sector workers which will come into effect shortly, said Minister of Labour Relations and Manpower Athauda Seneviratne.
This scheme will give workers a salary proportionate to the labor they expend while circumventing salary anomalies.
The ‘Policy’ expected to comply with the international standards will be prepared with the assistance of the International Labour Organisation (ILO), sources said.
The Government has taken the necessary initial steps towards the formulation of the new policy, Minister Seneviratne added.
