Guinea-Bissau Gets 21 New Cabinet Ministers

Guinea Bissau has a new government since Saturday led by Prime Minister Carlos Correia who was named on 5 August to replace Martinho Ndafa Kabi. The new cabinet mainly comprises former members of the African Party for the Independence of Guinea and Cape Verde (PAIGC) close to the president, Nino Vieira.

Adiato Nandigna and Soares Sambu were renewed respectively to the Ministry of Youth, and that of natural resources.

The close allies to Nino Vieira’s PAIGC took the greatest share while the Party for Social Renewal (PRS), that is rather represented by opponents of former president Kumba Yala among them Sola Nkilin at the Rural Development Ministry.

Kumba Yala’s PRS only reaped one ministerial portfolio and the Social Democratic United Party (PUSD) also one, Carmelita Pires as Minister of Justice, who has been renewed.

Here is the list of Guinea-Bissau’s new cabinet that is composed of 28 members including 21 ministers and 7 secretaries of state:
