Guinean Capital Brightens Up with Traffic Lights
April 30, 2008
The Guinean capital, Conakry, has set up of traffic lights at certain road junctions to ensure better traffic control but motorists are having trouble abiding by the new rules, APA has learned.
The lights, which are reported to be a pilot project, were commissioned this week in the Kaloum commune, home to most Guinean ministries and the business district.
The lights have also been put up in the suburban neighborhood of Cosa, a populous Conakry district.
The government plans to extend the traffic lights to all the communes in the capital ahead of the country’s golden jubilee in October.
The traffic lights, erected at major junctions, have revitalized the city.
