A BBC reporter in Kismayo, 500km south of Mogadishu, Nasteh Dahir Farah was killed in Kismayo on Saturday evening by unknown gunmen, residents told APA.
Mr. Farah was shot and seriously wounded on his way home by unidentified armed men but later died in the hospital minutes after being taken there.
Farah was the second journalist killed in Somalia this year alone, while eight other Somali journalists were murdered last year.
Hundreds of Somali journalists have fled the country and are now living either abroad or in neighboring countries as asylum seekers.
