hairy-bikersCelebrity chefs The Hairy Bikers will enjoy fifteen minutes of fame as presenters of national traffic news on a unique digital radio service.

The duo will be helping to promote Traffic Radio during broadcasts from the Good Food Show at the NEC this week.

“Presenting travel news is quite a departure for us, but as regular users of the motorways and main roads it’s certainly something we can relate to,” says David Myers, star of the Hairy Bikers TV cookery shows.

He and fellow chef Si King will be on the Highways Agency stand on Friday (27 November) to support a safe winter driving campaign.  The Agency, which manages England’s motorways and major A roads, is urging people to plan their journey using a number of free information services.

“A good journey, just like a good meal, will always improve with careful preparation,” comments Dave.  “We are in favor of any campaign that makes sure dinner guests arrive safely and before the soup gets cold!”

The Hairy Bikers have just completed 15,000 miles on the nation’s roads as part of their Food Tour of Britain.

Traffic Radio provides continuous traffic news for England on behalf of the Highways Agency.  It can be received in your car on a DAB radio, via the internet and on AM around the exhibition center car parks.

The digital station will be broadcasting direct from the Good Food Show on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  When the reporters are not on air, there will also be an opportunity for some lucky visitors to get behind the mic and record their own personal travel bulletin.
