125px-Flag_of_Mauritius.svg_1The Hospitals of the Geneva University (HGU) in Switzerland have signed an agreement with the Mauritius Ministry of Health to set up a post-university faculty to train local medical specialists.

Jean-Louis Carpentier, Dean of the HGU indicated here that the setting up of a renown medical faculty in Mauritius hs become a must so that the country can offer a high quality medical service and become a medical training center for Africa.

Carpentier added that if Mauritius manages to build a good reputation with this new faculty, many foreign students will choose the option of coming for post graduate courses here.

He said that the new faculty will be operational by September 2010.

He added that apart from this new faculty that his institution will set up here, the HGU is planning other projects to help the medical services of the island.
