Humber Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) received a 999 call from the owners of the dive boat, the ‘Sovereign 3′, at 11:30 reporting that a male diver had been missing for an hour and they were concerned for his safety.
Humber Coastguard requested the launch of Craster RNLI Lifeboat, Seahouses RNLI All Weather and Inshore Lifeboats, Boulmer Independent Lifeboat and Rescue 131 Helicopter from RAF Boulmer. Other dive boats in the area are also involved in the search.
Humber Coastguard Watch Manager Mike Puplett said:
“The Sovereign 3 dive boat is currently returning to shore but all units are continuing to assist in this ongoing search. The missing male is 53 years old and an experienced diver, and we are extremely concerned for his safety as he has now been missing for two and half hours.”
