The 34 Malian illegal immigrants, deported on Wednesday by Moroccan authorities and blocked at the border with Mauritania, have left their reception center for an unknown destination.
The so-called illegal immigrants escaped in small groups from tents set up by the Mauritanian Red Cross which also provided food and other basic needs.
After the escape, on Sunday evening, of the last three among them, the Red Cross teams took down the tents set up in a no man’s land between Mauritania and Morocco.
Information from security patrols indicated that some escapees who tried to illegally enter the town were arrested.
Illegal immigrants arrested by Mauritanian authorities are generally taken in the center for temporary stay in Nouadhibou before being sent back to their native countries.
