125px-Flag_of_Indonesia.svgThe head of the Agro-product division of the Indonesian ministry of Trade, Bistok Gaol, told journalists on Friday at the ongoing Lagos International Trade Fair that exports from his country to Nigeria totaled $289.6 million while imports from Nigeria to Indonesia totaled $114.8 million in 2008.

Gaol described the Nigerian market as big and disclosed many Nigerians were doing business in Jakarta, Indonesia.

He said that the trade relations between Nigeria and Indonesia were cordial, urging Nigerian manufacturers to promote their products more in Indonesian markets.

He suggested the separation of local firms from their foreign counterparts at the fair in future because most foreign exhibitors were not at the fair to sell products directly to end users but to seek more distributors.

Gaol, who said he was attending the fair for the first time, also complained about the poor state of the pavilions.

He said the original design of the pavilion shown to the Indonesian delegation by LCCI was different from what they met.
