The International Cocoa Council (CIC) meeting will be held from March 22 to 27 in Yaounde, the capital of Cameroon, APA learned on Monday from official sources.
According to the Cameroonian Minister of Trade, Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana, this meeting will provide an opportunity for member countries to adopt a consensus position on the international agreement on cocoa in readiness for the UN Conference on Cocoa billed for April 19 to 23, 2010 in Geneva.
That conference will endeavor to negotiate a new agreement to replace the International Agreement signed in 2001.
The OIC, headed by Dutchman Jan Vingerhoets, is a worldwide organization composed of both producing countries and consumers of this product.
