Investigation Continues Into Last Weeks French Helicopter Crash in Cote D’Ivoire

Investigations continue into the causes of the crash of a gazelle-type helicopter of the French force, Unicorn, that injured two on Thursday evening at about 15km in the south of Bouake, Cote d’Ivoire.
The incident occurred during a flight training at about 15km south of Bouake.
The same source added that “the injured crew, both of them soldiers was rescued and evacuated to the Port-Bouët military hospital in Abidjan”.
On 10 March, another helicopter had crashed without any casualty during a technical flight near Bouake, the stronghold of the former rebel group New Forces (FN).
Deployed in 2002 when the Ivorian crisis started in order to protect the many foreign nationals in the country, the Unicorn force which is the U.N. rapid intervention force has presently 1,800 soldiers against 4,000 at the time of its deployment.
