The Guinean Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alexandre Cécé Louah, has denied any involvement of foreign countries in Captain Moussa Dadis Camara’s assassination attempt.
“We suspect nobody ; we are pointing no accusing finger to any foreign power. The perpetrator of the murder attempt is known and he is still on the run,” the minister said, while cutting short accusations made by the Minister of Communication, Idrissa Cherif, who had accused France of being involved in the murder attempt on the junta’s chief.
He was speaking as part of annual meetings with the diplomatic corps and accredited consulates in Guinea.
These meetings especially aim at highlighting the position of the Guinean authorities on some key issues regarding national current affairs.
The head of the Guinean diplomatic staff just returned from a trip abroad, which took him to The Hague in Holland, then to Morocco at the military junta’s chief’s bedside, Captain Moussa Dadis Camara, who is still hospitalized, after being shot by his aide-de-camp, Lieutenant Toumba Diakité, still on the run.
Referring to the hospitalization of the Guinean junta leader in Morocco, Alexandre Cécé Louah said that his state of health is not a matter of concern.
The Moroccan stage of his trip gave him an opportunity to express his gratefulness to the King of Morocco as well as the Senegalese, Burkinabe and Libyan heads of state for “promptly showing their African solidarity” by providing their support to the junta chief.
As regards talks between the Guinean stakeholders in Ouagadougou likely to be suspended, as announced by the junta, Alexandre Cécé Louah said : “The National Council for Democracy and Development along with the Guinean government expressed their commitment to keep handling Guinean negotiations in a consensual manner, under the auspices of Burkinabe facilitator, Blaise Compaoré.”
In response to some stands taken on behalf of the Guinean junta in the foreign media, Cécé Louah said : “Those statements raised doubts and embarrassments. We are sorry for those inconsistencies which do not reflect the position of our government. We have taken measures to defend our stand. In so doing, we will not allow anyone to make bad comments. Both the CNDD and President Dadis Camara are the relevant solutions for Guinea.”
