125px-Flag_of_Kenya.svg_1Kenya is to host the East Africa International General Trade Fair (EAIGTF) from August 18-20, the organizers announced Tuesday.

The EAIGTF 2010 is expected to attract over 150,000 exhibitors and 20,000 visitors from the Americas, the COMESA region, Europe, Middle East and Asia.

There will also be representatives of trade ministries, export promotion councils and chambers of commerce from different countries as well as multinational corporations, relief organizations, major financial institutions representatives and investors.

The conference will be on the theme ; “Africa Export and Import Fair 2010” so as to accommodate the rest of Africa and also to raise the performance of African export and import trade.

“The main objective of the event is to open up Africa to the rest of the world through its exports and imports aimed at improving the overall African economy. The fair moreover aims at offering the best platform for Africa to increase its business ties and relations with the rest of the world and vice versa,” the organizers told APA in Nairobi.

EAIGFT 2010 is a first in a series of trade fairs in a five year plan that will culminate to like events annually in the East African countries.

The five East African Community member countries are Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi and Rwanda.
