Large Cash Boost to Up-grade Facilities At Congo’s Brazzaville Airport
October 9, 2008
The Congolese government will mobilize six billion CFA francs until 2009 to upgrade the facilities at Brazzaville airport, major works delegate Jean Jacques Bouya announced on Wednesday.
“The operation will evict people living on the Maya-Maya International Airport area to reclaim the space,” Bouyas said, adding that houses have sprawled to occupying the airport area.
“We will, by the end of October, allocate 1.5 billion to start the operation, which will be conducted gradually, pending the availability of the balance,” he added.
The Brazzaville international airport is being modernized, with WIETEC, a Chinese company, being in the process of building a new airport terminal while French company General Enterprise (SGEC-Congo) is constructing a 3,300-meter long and 45-meter wide runway.
