Lesotho Welcomes Five Camels From Libya

The Kingdom of Lesotho in South Africa, has received a precious gifts of five camels from the leader of the Libyan revolution, Colonel Muammar Kadhafi. The desert animals arrived at the Moshoeshoe I International Airport, 40 km south of the capital Maseru, Thursday night.
The camels - two females, one male and two babies - are a gift to Lesotho Prime Minister Pakalitha Mosisili from the Libyan leader, an official told APA .
Receiving the gifts, Foreign and International Relations Minister Mohlabi Tsekoa said the donation of camels from Libya has strengthened existing bilateral relations between the two countries.
He said the camels will be kept under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, with arrangements being made to take them to a safer but unnamed location for better keeping.
The Secretary of the People’s Bureau of the Libyan Arab, Yousef Algwoigy, said camels have great meaning in the lives of Libyans.
“Camels are the type of animals that can bare hardship, and the weather conditions in Lesotho are convenient for their survival, as it is more or less the same as in Libya,” he said.
Algwoigy added that camels are not wild but domestic animals, which can be easily cared for like sheep and cattle. He said people can get meat and milk from the camels and further use them as a mode of transport.
A similar gift will be presented to Mozambique, Namibia, Madagascar and Botswana from the Libyans.
