LTTE Artillery Position Destroyed in Air Raid

An LTTE artillery command center and an underground bunker located in the Palai area in Jaffna was destroyed in a Sri Lanka Air Force air raid this morning (28), Media Center for National Security confirmed.

The precise target, located at Kulampaikulama, 3kms South East of Palai, was hit by jet fighters around 10.10 am.

Meanwhile sources from Batticaloa said that Special Task Force members on receiving early information of LTTE movement in the general area of Vellaveli have carried out an ambush in a patch of jungle and gunned down a terrorist at around 5 a.m. today. The body of an LTTE cadre was later found in a search operation and was brought to the general hospital at Batticaloa for post- mortem and magisterial inquiry.

Troops also found military equipment during the search operation.
