125px-Flag_of_Mauritania.svg_Mauritania and Sudan have signed 16 agreements and draft cooperation agreements in the public and private sectors after the second session of the two countries’ Joint Commission of Cooperatio.

Eight of these agreements focus on trade, seaports, justice, visa abolition, youth and sports, investment, standards and norms and international cooperation.

Khartoum and Nouakchott also signed a social protection agreement, a cultural executive program, another on social protection and an agreement to remove double taxation between the two countries.

The documents were signed by the Mauritanian ministers Naha Mint Mouknass of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and Mohamed Abdallahi Ould Uda of Industry and Mines, and Investment Promotion Commissioner Maty mint Hamadi.

The signatories in the Sudanese side were the Minister of International Cooperation Tijani Saleh Fadil, the director of “Danvodio” institution, Ibrahim Moussa El Khalifa, and Hamza Abdel Basset, the chief executive officer of Zewaya.

Meanwhile, a report adopting the agreement signed in September 2007 in Khartoum between the National Confederation of Mauritanian Employers and the Union of Employers of Sudan has been ratified by both parties.

This agreement aims to put in place, in both countries, the conditions to develop the economic sector, exchange information and experiences and to encourage exports and services.

It also covers the creation of a bank in Nouakchott intended to guarantee the financing of joint investment projects and contribute to production in agriculture and livestock.

The report was signed by the President of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Mauritania, Mohamedou Ould Mohamed Mahmoud and Lafdhal Ould Boutah for the National Confederation of Employers of Mauritania.

Ali Mohamed El Hacen Brissi for the Union of Employers of Sudan signed for Sudan.

The second session of the Joint Mauritania-Sudan Cooperation Commission started Monday in Nouakchott.
