The Mauritanian President has issued a decree for the setting up of a reception and social rehabilitation center for children who broke the law.
As a public administrative institution, the social center is entitled to discipline children who commit an offence, while ensuring the rehabilitation of such kids to prevent further offences from them.
The center offers to juvenile judges and jurisdictions a wide range of alternative educational measures in a friendly and welcoming environment to substitute for the detention conditions of transgressing minors.
Due to sedentary lifestyle, family breakup and the high cost of living, a number of Mauritanian children keenly indulge in illegal practices such as theft, petty crime, drug dealing and consumption.
Such acts of delinquency bring them on the verge of all kinds of criminality.
